When Hau Le moved to Houston in 2016, he discovered milk tea from behind the counter—as a bobarista.
The work introduced him to the craft, culture and community around a genuinely good cup. When he returned to Baton Rouge, he saw room for something the city was missing: authentic milk tea, bold coffee and a welcoming place open for the moments when people needed a break.
Teatery opened on December 28, 2018. The name joins “tea” and “eatery,” but the idea goes deeper: treat yourself. A drink can be a small reward, a reset, even a little life therapy.
From one Baton Rouge shop, Teatery has grown into three Louisiana neighborhoods while keeping the same promise—real drinks, prepared with care, served by real people.

Teatery’s brown-sugar pearls start with cassava and are cooked throughout the day in small batches. That keeps the texture soft, warm and satisfyingly chewy instead of sitting around.
